Ami Bar is the recipient of the European Seed Association’s Outstanding Student Award for 2013, presented during the ESA General Assembly in Warsaw (15.10.2013).
The award, handed out in partnership with the University of California, Davis and Seed World magazine, marks Ami’s outstanding performance in the recently concluded European plant breeding academy course.
ESA for long has been supporting the setting up and running of the EPBA European Plant Breeding Academy, a programme dedicated to the further training of young plant breeders and run by the University of California at Davis which has also become an Associate Member of ESA.
ESA President Gerard Backx presented the award to Ami Bar, a tomato breeder with Monsanto in Israel, during the ESA General Assembly held in Warsaw.
Garlich von Essen, Secretary General of ESA, commented: “ESA has always underlined the importance of education and continuous development of skills as a precondition for sustained innovation. And we know that many of our member companies struggle to find the talent they need for their breeding programmes. We are proud to support UC Davis’ European Plant Breeding Academy and this award is a visible sign of that.”
