Bayer CropScience Canada continues its commitment to InVigor hybrid canola growers in 2014

Calgary, Alberta, Canada
September 12, 2013

As part of its commitment to support Canadian farmers Bayer CropScience is investing in changes to its early establishment canola program for the 2014 growing season.

“Canadian canola growers plan for success every year and Bayer CropScience is committed to supporting them through innovation and technology. Our business is rooted in innovation and whether we are developing seeds, crop protection products or support programs for our growers, we are always thinking about how to enhance Canadian agriculture,” says James Humphris, Manager, Oilseed Crops for Bayer CropScience Canada.

Bayer recognizes that the environment can challenge canola production and will continue to support growers through an increased investment into the reseeding program. For the 2014 season InVigor hybrid canola growers who have early establishment issues and reseed back to InVigor will qualify for a $40 per acre refund from Bayer CropScience. This represents a 60% increase in the early establishment reseeding program to support growers continuing to grow InVigor hybrid canola.

The current early season establishment program, TraitGuard™ will no longer be offered in 2014. TraitGuard was designed to refund the trait fee on those InVigor canola acres that failed to establish by the end of June each year. Although the TraitGuard program enjoyed some success, the logistics and resources of managing the program for all involved had proven to be a bigger challenge than had been forecasted.
