The 2013 Canadian Seed Trade Association’s Seed Achievement Award has been presented to Sarah Foster, the President and Senior Seed Analyst at 20/20 Seed Labs.
The CSTA Seed Achievement Award is presented to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the Canadian seed industry in the private or public sector.
Sarah Foster’s career is filled with “firsts”.
- In 1989 she started 20/20 Seed Labs, the first Canadian privately owned and operated seed lab.
- Under her guidance, 20/20 Seed Labs was the first to develop a diagnostic profile for germination testing, and the first to develop client specific canola vigour tests.
- 20/20 was also the first (and currently only) authorized private hybrid canola seed crop inspection service in Canada.
- Sarah was also the first National President of the Commercial Seed Analysts Association of Canada.
In 2004 she received an Alberta Premier’s award for her work to develop a Seed Grader Training Program at Olds College. She was the winner of a GENEius award in 2003; was nominated for a Manning award for innovation; and is an honourary life member of the Canadian Seed Growers’ Association.
Sarah Foster received the CSTA Seed Achievement Award at the annual awards ceremony during CSTA’s 90th Annual Meeting in Québec City.
