Plant Impact is pleased to announce its support for the Government’s vision for the UK to make fuller use of its agri-science base.
Welcoming the launch of BIS’s ten year Agri-Tech strategy, Plant Impact’s Chief Executive John Brubaker comments: “I am pleased the government is acting on agri-tech’s importance and recognises its potential contribution to both the current economic situation and coming global food and environmental challenges.
“Science and technology underpin our own business, and our products highlight how technological expertise can help growers make better use of finite resources. But to be successful in the market, new technical ideas require help from distribution, manufacturers, researchers and government.
“Our work is already supporting the strategic aim to increase export of knowledge, products, systems, service and technology. In the last 12 months, we have launched two innovative products for British agriculture in fruit and vegetable, grown our business into Brazil and added high quality jobs to our offices at Rothamsted.”
The company recently hosted an event with technology and government leaders to discuss agri-tech strategy at Rothamsted Research. It included representatives from major research institutions, distribution, agronomists and growers and highlighted a keynote address from government life sciences adviser, George Freeman MP, where he reiterated that Government firmly believed that agri-food, or agri-tech science, should share ranking with bioscience and medical science as an industry that’s key to this country’s future.
George Freeman commented: “I’m delighted to lend my support to companies such as Plant Impact. It’s companies like them who will be instrumental in driving and developing this exciting new agri-tech sector. Today’s launch will help to see that their research and innovation not only takes place in a world-class environment, but that its value is quickly put into practice, ensuring the UK’s leadership of the new Green Revolution in high-tech farming.”
