GOËMAR is inaugurating its centre of innovation « GOËMAR PHYTOPOLIS » on Friday 5th July in Saint Malo. This new tool for innovation was created thanks to GOËMAR’s investment in research, as part of its global development policy. With GOËMAR PHYTOPOLIS, GOËMAR will multiply by three its research capacities.
Research and innovation at the heart of GOËMAR’s strategy
Research has always been at the heart of GOËMAR’s strategy. By dedicating 10% of its turnover and 15% of its workforce to R&D, GOËMAR, since its creation in 1971, hasn’t stopped developing plant production solutions respectful to Man and the Environment, with a fundamental idea: plants are active to feed themselves, to reproduce and to defend themselves.
Thanks to its research, GOËMAR has created:
- Physio Activators, made from specific seaweed filtrates, which activate plant metabolism to feed themselves and to reproduce.
- Biocontrol solutions, made from Laminarin, extract of laminaria seaweed, which naturally stimulates plant defenses against pathogens.
Today, GOËMAR is strengthening its original strategy by deploying its research at the interface of genetic, fertilizer and crop protection approaches with the following objectives:
- The best expression of genetic potentials (more yield, more quality)
- The best fertilizer efficiency (less in soil and in water, more for the plant)
- The best way to anticipate crop protection, as part of an Integrated Pest Management (less pesticides, more biocontrol).
Beyond contributing to growers productivity development, while reducing the impact of production methods, GOËMAR engages in concrete solutions to meet growers’ emerging needs in terms of better control of hazards and climatic stress, that adapt to societal expectations and to regulatory changes.
GOËMAR PHYTOPOLIS, new tool for innovation
2013 marks a turning point in the history of GOËMAR, with the creation of GOËMAR PHYTOPOLIS that symbolizes a new goal for Goëmar: be World Leader in Physio Activation, in Innovative Nutrition and in Biocontrol.
GOËMAR PHYTOPLIS involves 6 competitiveness clusters, 17 research laboratories (Universities, INRA, CNRS, Schools) and 18 associate companies. All innovations may be tested thanks to the new facilities, from the plant cell to the field: for cell culture in growth chambers under controlled conditions, in greenhouses under semi-controlled conditions and in nurseries in natural conditions. The approach to these different categories makes GOËMAR PHYTOPOLIS a powerful research tool.
Research capacity multiplied by 3
With GOËMAR PHYTOPOLIS, GOËMAR will multiply by 3 its own research capacities. Indeed, PHYTOPOLIS has 5 growth chambers: 2 Biocontrol, 2 Plant physiology, 1 in Vitro culture; 5 greenhouse compartments: 3 Biocontrol and 2 Plant physiology; 1 Plant pathology laboratory; 1 Plant physiology laboratory; 3000m² of nurseries to carry out the first screening of Research products before testing in the field within the different regions of the World.
GOËMAR PHYTOPOLIS allows GOËMAR to follow its goal of being an important contributor of this new chapter in agronomic progress, worldwide, on each continent, oneach strategic crop, for food or industrial uses.
