Syngenta Biotechnology is ranked third out of the top 20 winners of the Triangle Business Journal’s Healthiest Employer award. The RTP site joins Syngenta locations in Greensboro, N.C. and Minnetonka, Minn. as Business Journal Healthiest Employer award winners in 2012.
Applicants were surveyed online by Healthiest Employer LLC and ranked according to their performance in six key categories: culture and leadership commitment, foundational components, strategic planning, communications and marketing, programming and interventions, reporting and analysis. The Triangle’s top 20 healthiest employers represent companies and nonprofits that best commit to making wellness a priority in the workplace.
Syngenta leadership deemed that employee wellness – improving and maintaining the health of employees – should be an integral part of the company’s culture. As a result, the Reaping Rewards Wellness Program was developed and implemented. Syngenta began its Reaping Rewards Wellness Program in 1998 and has since received majority support amongst employees.
The focus of the program involves a holistic approach, including all aspects of a person’s well-being – ranging from awareness to change – leading to life balance and healthy lifestyles.
In efforts to improve the health of their workforce, Syngenta’s program rewards employees who participate in healthy activities and general health assessments. Syngenta employees can gain points from having a gym membership, taking online health risk assessments, participating in physicals, or any number of other health-related activities.
“Our program has really pushed our employees to embrace a healthy lifestyle,” says Michiel van Lookeren Campagne, president of Syngenta Biotechnology. “This recognition validates the work of our employee wellness team and our people to improve our wellness initiatives and help our employees achieve better fitness.”
