Enza Zaden establishes subsidiary in India

Enkhuizen, The Netherlands
October 24, 2012

On Friday 19 October 2012, Enza Zaden’s new subsidiary, Enza Zaden India Private Limited, has officially been registered. “We are proud to announce the start of this fully owned subsidiary in India”, says Jaap Mazereeuw, Managing Director of the vegetable breeding company from Enkhuizen, the Netherlands.

Enza Zaden India has its registered office in Pune, Maharashtra state, which is one of the most important vegetable production regions in the country. The new company will focus on the development of new hybrid vegetable varieties attuned to local growers in India. These varieties will give them improved yields and a better disease resistance.

Enza Zaden India is the latest addition to the worldwide chain of Enza Zaden R&D and commercial subsidiaries. After Indonesia and China, it is the third major Asian market Enza Zaden enters. The Indian seed market is rapidly changing from open pollinated to hybrid varieties and the demand for professional seed is increasing.
