The Cabinet abolished compulsory labeling of products that do not contain genetically modified organisms (GMOs). This was stated by the Minister of Agrarian Policy and Food Mykola Prysiazhniuk.
According to him, at this meeting, the government has approved a bill that would allow producers not to specify that their products do not contain GMOs on the packaging.
"Today, we have reviewed and approved the bill, which provides for new conditions and requirements for the labeling of food products relating to presence of genetically modified organisms. Today collapse that existed when it was necessary to mark the absence of GMOs in products, is going to be eliminated. The information about the presence of GMOs on the products, which contain them will be binding requirement, and the manufacturer will carry responsibility for that"- said Prisyazhnyuk.
