The 10th China Agricultural Trade Fair (the 10th CATF) opened in National Agricultural Exhibition Center, Beijing on Sept.28, 2012. Member of the Political Bureau of CPC and Vice Premier Hui Liangyu attended the opening ceremony and declared the commencement of the event.
After the opening ceremony, Hui visited several exhibition sites including Comprehensive Exhibition Zone, International Zone and Agricultural S&T Zone. The exhibition, presenting various products with regional features, ethnic customs and brand advantages, has attracted quite a lot of domestic and oversea visitors. Hui made a tour of exhibition to see the quality agricultural products displayed in the booths, and talk with participants about their recent development in production, processing and marketing. Hui stated that CATF has become the top level and most influential event of its kind. He hoped that competent authorities should stick to the goals and principles of CATF organization, and give a full play to CATF's role in agricultural policy advocacy, achievement demonstration, technology extension, distribution improvement and trade promotion.
The theme of the 10th CATF is "Accelerating modern agriculture development, making headways in agro-modernization, industrialization and urbanization".The total exhibition area is 43,500 square meterswith three exhibition zones(Comprehensive Zone, International Zone and Specialized Zone) and eight featured sections(Comprehensive, International, Cooperatives, Agricultural S&T, Seed industry, Modern agricultural machinery and equipment,State farms and Aquatic products). 33 exhibitors from 31 provinces(autonomous regions and municipalities),Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps and Taiwan, over 2,000 enterprises from 22 countries including the US, Holland, Australia, Germany, Canada, UK, Denmark, Italy, Korea, Russia and France participated in the event.
NPC Vice Chairperson Uyunqimg, CPPCC Vice Chairman Luo Fuhe, Deputy Director of the Office of Central Financial Work Leading Group and Director of the Office of Central Rural Work Leading Group Chen Xiwen, and Chairman of China Securities Regulatory Committee(CSRC) Guo Shuqing attended the opening ceremony. Beijing Municipal Party Committee Secretary Guo Jinlong and Minister of Agriculture Han Changfu delivered speeches at the opening ceremony.
