CLAUSE organized a special melon event at its research station in Murcia during the first week of July 2012. It focused primarily on its current melon line-up for export markets and was attended by some of the main English and Dutch melon importers.

A field was prepared to show the visitors the leading commercial varieties and novelties specifically developed by HM-CLAUSE for the export supply chain.

Three new long shelf life varieties were the highlights of the event:

• KARMAN, a Charentais melon with aesthetic appeal and excellent taste;
• CLX MLH89 (Lambada) for the Murcia season, a new Galia melon with an outstanding appearance and great internal quality;
• CAPOEIRA, a new reliable Galia variety for the Brazilian and Central American seasons, with good transport capacity.

This event was a good opportunity to exchange views on the melon market, trends and consumer needs, and to taste the different fruits.
