"Molecular Breeding for Super Hybrid Rice" research project officially launched in Hunan Province, China

On September 2, the "Molecular Breeding for Super Hybrid Rice" research project was officially launched in Changsha City, Hunan province, with 8 to 12 patents to be applied within 3 years. The launching ceremony was attended by vice governor of Hunan province Han Yongwen, "father of hybrid rice" Yuan Longping, and academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences Xu Zhihong and other representatives.
As a major project for Hunan's science and technology development, this research project endeavors to bring Hunan's technology of molecular breeding for super hybrid rice more in line with international standards and to firmly support the sustainable development of Hunan hybrid rice. Meanwhile, a group of world famous plant molecular biology experts will be brought in to work with Yuan Longping for the research and innovation of super hybrid rice technology, thus to make Hunan hybrid rice technology take the lead in the world.
