New Zealand - Amendment to the Import Health Standard for Seed for Sowing
New Zealand
July 2, 2012
The NZ Ministry for Primary Industries (MPI) have issued an amendment to the Import Health Standard for Seed for Sowing. MPI have made changes to the Import Health Standard (IHS) to improve the readability and access to import requirements.
The IHS is available on the following website: http://www.biosecurity.govt.nz/files/ihs/155-02-05.pdf
The new IHS is dated 29 June 2012 and replaces the previous version dated 7 May 2012.
Please note that there are no intended changes to the import requirements from the previous version of the Import Health Standard (IHS). However, there have been significant changes to how the import requirements are set out, particularly within Part A (which replaces Sections 1 and 2 of the current IHS).
The amended IHS also amalgamates the import requirements currently contained in two separate standards for Pinus spp. seed for sowing, and Pseudotsuga menziesii seed for sowing:
These two Import Health Standards will now be revoked.
Guidance Information for importing seeds for sowing has been developed and is available on the following webpage: http://www.biosecurity.govt.nz/regs/imports/plants/seeds
This guidance information is aimed primarily at importers, agents and overseas exporters to accompany the IHS. The information included in the pages has been set out in a logical order, and answers many of the frequently asked questions received by MPI.
For any questions on this IHS, please email the Plant Imports team: plantimports@mpi.govt.nz
