PICKSEED is a proud supplier of turfgrass seed to the Ukraine based stadiums at the 2012 UEFA European Football Championship (EURO 2012).

Participating bodies have given the playing surfaces excellent reviews at three state of the art stadiums including - Donbass Arena (Donetsk); Metalist Arena (Kharkiv) and Lviv Arena (Lviv) and have commented that the first class turf quality will provide excellent championship conditions. In addition, 18 practice pitches were also seeded and prepared for use during the championship.

PICKSEED has worked with Green Velvet, a Ukrainian distributor, to select and provide superior seed varieties that will withstand the demanding conditions of EURO 2012 stadiums. Varieties of perennial ryegrass (FIESTA 3 & 4) and Kentucky bluegrass (TOUCHDOWN & BLUE VELVET) were selected to provide a combination of excellent sod strength and wear tolerance.

The 2012 UEFA European Football Championship kicked off June 8, 2012, and runs until July 1st, 2012 with the final to be held at Olympic Stadium in Kiev. An estimated 1.4 million international fans are expected to attend, along with an expected live TV audience of 150 million for each match. The cumulative audience of the UEFA European Football Championship is expected to be in excess of 4.3 billion.
