Canada - Bayer CropScience protects InVigor and LibertyLink canola growers with TraitGuard

Canada
May 23, 2012

Bayer CropScience is once again taking the worry out of unpredictable seeding conditions with TraitGuard™. Part of the Liberty® & Trait Agreement (LTA), TraitGuard is designed to protect growers of InVigor® hybrid canola and other LibertyLink® canola from early season crop establishment risk.

With TraitGuard, Bayer CropScience will refund the trait fee that is included in each bag of InVigor hybrid or other LibertyLink canola seed for acres that have been reseeded back to InVigor or taken out of production by June 29th, 2012. The reimbursement is calculated by determining the number of bags of seed that were used, based on a seeding rate of 10 acres per 22.7 kg bag of seed.

For acres:

  • Taken out of production, growers may receive $12.50/acre, up to a maximum of $125 per bag.
  • Reseeded back to InVigor, growers may receive $25/acre, up to a maximum of $250 per bag.
  • Reseeded to any other crop type or variety, growers may receive $12.50/acre, up to a maximum of $125 per bag.

“In addition to providing high quality solutions that maximize productivity, we are committed to ensuring that growers receive exceptional value from every product purchased,” says James Humphris, Manager, Oilseed Crops - Herbicides and Trait Agreement, Bayer CropScience. “We are proud to continue to offer our TraitGuard program to support InVigor and LibertyLink canola growers. We are truly invested in this together.”

How to make a TraitGuard claim
Making a qualified TraitGuard claim is simple;

Growers will be required to provide the following information:
- LTA number
- Legal business entity (used on the LTA)
- Acres claimed (minimum claim is 40 acres)
- Legal land descriptions(s)
- The LibertyLink canola variety(s)
- Name of retailer(s)
- The number of bags of LibertyLink seed planted in the claim field(s)

Growers have two options to register a claim:
- Enter it online at BayerCropScience.ca/TraitGuard. It takes less time and growers can register at their convenience. A working email address is required.
- Call the LTA Call Centre at 1 888-283-6847.

“We encourage growers to contact us via our website or LTA Call Centre to request information or register a claim. We will remain on standby to support until June 29th,” says Humphris.
