Biosecurity New Zealand: Notification of amendment 155.02.05 - Importation of seed for sowing

Amendments have been made to the import health standard (IHS)155.02.05: Importation of seed for sowing. The new IHS is dated 20 March 2012, and replaces the version dated 5 December 2011. The amended IHS can be viewed on the website: http://www.biosecurity.govt.nz/files/ihs/155-02-05.pdf

The following amendments have been made:

  1. All strains of Tomato ringspot virus have now been regulated therefore all instances of Tomato ringspot virus listed in the Rubus, Fragaria and Vaccinium schedules will be amended to Tomato ringspot virus, these amendments will not alter the regulatory requirements of these schedules.
  2. Amendment of the schedule name Rubus idaeus to Rubus spp.
  3. Addition to the Rubus schedule pest list of Raspberry Ringspot virus (RpRSV)
  4. Amendment to Rubus schedule post entry quarantine (PEQ) requirements - level 2 PEQ with a minimum growing period of 3 months (previously level 3 PEQ with one growing season inspection).

It is anticipated that the amended IHS will be issued publicly on 22 March 2012.
