This year marks STA Laboratories, Inc.’s 20th anniversary of providing quality services to agriculture. In 1987, Seed Testing of America was established in Colorado and began providing independent hybrid purity services to the corn industry. Seed Testing of America soon expanded its hybrid purity services to the vegetable seed industry, and began offering seed analysis services in 1989 and seed health services in 1991. These services remain our core business.

Along the way, our business model of providing the highest quality throughput and superior customer service, appealed to other sectors of agriculture. Plant Health Services was added, offering Grapevine HealthChecktm diagnostic services, breeder support and plant disease diagnostic analyses. Soon afterwards, we changed the company name to STA Laboratories and most recently, STA Genomics, specializing in The Breeder’s Edge molecular marker services, became our newest service division. We have traveled a long way, from humble beginnings as a starch electrophoresis laboratory to our integrated services that include seed quality, genetic enhancement and plant health.

STA provides independent diagnostic services to many sectors of agriculture. The vision—to be the leading diagnostic laboratory that offers technology-based, scientifically sound services to help you succeed—has driven our expansion.
