Agrisoma Biosciences Inc. has received $425,000 in research funding from the Canada-Israel Industrial Research and Development Fund to further develop Brassica Carinata as an energy feedstock crop in partnership with Rosetta Green. Using proprietary crop improvement technology, Agrisoma is engineering Carinata lines that deliver enhanced yield of uniform, high quality oil for biodiesel and biojet fuel production. Rosetta Green
develops improved crop traits for the agriculture and alternative fuels industries using unique genes called microRNAs.
“Agrisoma is at the forefront of delivering a sustainable and economically viable energy feedstock source for the biofuel industry, utilizing our ETL technology to efficiently stack multiple traits into plant chromosomes that optimize the oil profile for fuel production,” says Steven Fabijanski, President and CEO of Agrisoma. “Our partnership with Rosetta Green with further enhance our trait pipeline.”
The funding, which will be paid in installments over a three-year period, will be used to identify new genes for introduction in Carinata through Agrisoma ETL technology.
Agrisoma Inc. is a private agricultural biotechnology company using its proprietary
Engineered Trait Loci (ETL) technology to commercialize a suite of industry-leading oil
quality and crop improvement traits for use in energy feedstock crops.
