AgVenture's Jeff Shaner to lead American Seed Trade Association's soybean division

AgVenture, Inc. Soybean Product Manager, Jeff Shaner has been appointed as Chairperson of the Soybean Division and a member of the Executive Board for the American Seed Trade Association (ASTA). In this leadership role, Shaner will preside over ASTA Soybean Division meetings, provide leadership and act as an advocate on behalf of ASTA and the many programs and projects supporting the soybean industry.

Shaner said, “I’m honored to serve the industry in this role. It is a great opportunity to provide a service that has a direct and important impact on our industry. The companies and individuals who participate in this great organization truly benefit from the relationships, idea-sharing and support provided among its members.” Specifically, as Chairperson, Shaner will be working with others on soybean industry initiatives including seed labeling laws, co-existence, and optimizing the soybean product pipeline.

AgVenture, Inc. General Manager Dave Treinen said, “Leadership and commitment are at the core of what AgVenture is all about. We commend Jeff on his willingness and abilities to serve the seed industry in this role.” Treinen continued, “His experience and perspectives, combined with his approachable attitude will no doubt foster great opportunities for the ASTA Soybean Division and the industry.”

The American Seed Trade Association is one of the oldest trade organizations in the United States. Its membership consists of roughly 750 companies involved in seed production and distribution, plant breeding, and related industries in North America. As an authority on plant germplasm, ASTA advocates science and policy issues of industry importance. Its mission is to enhance the development and free movement of quality seed worldwide.

Shaner has served as AgVenture Soybean Product Manager for the past ten years. He concluded, “Agriculture is poised for exceptional growth and opportunities. It’s our job to contribute productively to our customers, to our industry and to our ultimate goal of providing food and fuel for our future.” He and his wife, Mandi, have four children and reside at Sheldon, Illinois.
