InVigor hybrid canola from Bayer CropScience continue to out-yield the competition at the 2010 Western Canadian Canola/Rapeseed Recommending Committee (WCC/RRC) trials

Calgary, Alberta, Canada
August 24, 2011

The results are in and the InVigor® hybrids remain at the top, once again out-yielding the competition in the 2010 Western Canadian Canola/Rapeseed Recommending Committee (WCC/RRC) trials.

“However you look at it, the top 7 spots were InVigor canola hybrids and 9 of the top 10 spots in the trials were InVigor hybrids,” says Blaine Woycheshin, Manager, Oilseed Crops – InVigor Seed for Bayer CropScience.

“For over a decade we’ve come out on top in these trials which clearly demonstrates our breeding advancements and superior genetics. The consistent performance of our hybridization system generates top-of-the-line InVigor hybrids even under the most stressful conditions.”

Most notable from the trial results is that for the second year in a row, InVigor L150 tops the list yielding an impressive 143% of the check average (46A65 and Q2) in 2009. In 2010, InVigor L150 out-yielded the check varieties by 141%.

Along with consistently high yielding InVigor hybrids, canola growers can look forward to more innovation from Bayer CropScience in 2012.

“We have five new high-yielding InVigor hybrids ready for release for next year’s growing season,” he says. “There will be an excellent replacement hybrid for InVigor 5020, a hybrid tolerant to sclerotinia stem rust called InVigor L170S and one that is clubroot resistant called InVigor L135C. Plus two others are very comparable to InVigor L150 in yield. Without question, these are exciting times to be a canola grower, especially when they are growing InVigor!”
