Bayer CropScience is further enhancing its line-up of superior “L Series” InVigor® canola hybrids in 2012. At the same time, it is again reducing the suggested retail price of Liberty® herbicide while increasing the trait value contained in the bag of all LibertyLink® canola seed by a similar amount for the 2012 growing season. The net result of this change is that the system cost is similar to the current LibertyLink hybrid canola system based on the 2011 suggested retail price.
With the successful launch of the Liberty and Trait Agreement (LTA) in 2010, Bayer CropScience has seen growers further embrace the LibertyLink system. As part of the LTA, the price of Liberty herbicide was lowered, while the price of LibertyLink seed was increased by a corresponding amount.
“We are providing growers with an even more economical resistance management tool and the increased freedom to choose higher labelled rates or a more economical 2-Pass option, when required on their canola,” says James Humphris, Manager, Oilseed Crops – Herbicides & Trait Agreement. “The increased affordability of Liberty as a resistance management tool ultimately allows growers to maximize the full yield potential of their InVigor seed.”
Bayer CropScience also confirmed its ongoing commitment to protect growers of InVigor hybrid canola from early season crop establishment risk by continuing its TraitGuardTM program in 2012. TraitGuard reimburses the trait fee that is included in each bag of InVigor hybrid canola seed that is reseeded or taken out of production by June 29, 2012. Qualified growers who reseed to InVigor hybrid canola are eligible for additional reimbursements.
“We acknowledge the system price adjustment means greater upfront seed costs for growers and because of this, we are increasing the value of TraitGuard to minimize upfront risk for our growers,” says Humphris.
InVigor hybrid canola seed has developed a reputation for superior genetics that deliver early season vigor, extraordinary performance, even in stressed conditions, and outstanding yield. Since they were first entered in the public co-op trials in 1996, InVigor hybrids have consistently placed first as the top yielding canola variety.
