Beck’s Hybrids celebrates 75 Years with two custom built Orange County Choppers motorcycles

On July 28, in front of nearly 1,000 customers, dealers and employees, Beck’s Hybrids unveiled two 75th Anniversary custom built Orange County Choppers (OCC) motorcycles. Farmers and bike enthusiasts across the Midwest will have the chance to win a custom OCC chopper in the We Care for Orphans Adoption Fund Sweepstakes.
“My great grandfather and grandfather started Beck’s 75 years ago, following the principle of providing our customers with the best in seed quality, field performance and service,” said Scott Beck, vice president of Beck’s Hybrids. “In celebration of our 75th anniversary, we commissioned OCC to build two custom choppers, with one of the choppers being featured on the popular Discovery Channel TV show, American Chopper. A second bike was built to raise money for the We Care for Orphans Adoption Fund.”
Helping others is a passion for the Beck family and family of employees. There are 143 million orphan children worldwide. The We Care for Orphans Adoption Fund helps unite children with loving families. The average cost to adopt is around $30,000 and it is Beck’s Hybrids desire to help provide families with the resources they need to make their adoption a reality.
“Just like Beck’s, we’re an independently owned company that offers the most unique products in our industry,” said Paul Teutul Sr., CEO of Orange County Choppers. “When they approached us to build the first reverse trike motorcycle in OCC history, it was a challenge that we just couldn’t turn down.”
The bikes will tour the Midwest from July 28, 2011 to Feb. 18, 2012 and visit more than 15 field events and tradeshows, with a drawing being held on Feb. 22, 2012. Donations will be accepted at all events with proceeds going to We Care for Orphans. In addition, limited edition OCC and Beck’s Hybrids t-shirts will be on sale with profits going to the charity.
Chopper Design
“Selecting Orange County Choppers to build the bikes was an easy decision, said Sonny Beck, president of Beck’s Hybrids. “We have a passion for bringing our customers the best genetics and traits from suppliers worldwide, combining them with our own corn breeding program, and ultimately producing the most unique products in the industry. As one of the most recognizable faces in the motorcycle world, Paul Teutul Sr. has a reputation for building bikes that are the first of their kind. We weren’t interested in any imitations. We wanted the real deal.”
The bike that will be featured on American Chopper is unusual for the chopper industry. It is a reverse trike, with two wheels in the front and one in the back and mimics a corn picker. Every aspect of the commemorative chopper is unique and custom built. An American flag with the saying “God Bless the American Farmer,” flies on the gas tank, along with an image of a two-row horse drawn planter, which is how the first Beck’s Superior Hybrids seed was planted. The handle bar grips resemble an ear of corn and the side mirrors resemble the leaf of a corn plant. Driving on Hoosier tires, the wheels are made to resemble a planter plate.
“There are so many distinctive features of the seed industry in this custom themed chopper,” said Teutul Sr. “Not only does the bike have a real “wow” factor, it honors the American farmer. It’s a true testament to how Beck’s does business – with the farmer in mind.”
