In its July issue, American monthly “The Scientist” published results of its annual survey of top places to work among international academic institutions. INRA Versailles-Grignon, the only French institution on the list, climbs to second place.
INRA Versailles-Grignon moves up in the rankings, improving on its position in previous editions of the survey. Ranked seventh out of the ten best academic institutions outside the United States in 2010, INRA took second place in this year’s study.
Job satisfaction, a productive yet relaxed work environment and good management were particularly cited by a large number of scientists.
In all, over 2,300 life scientists answered an online survey conducted by “The Scientist” magazine. They assessed their work environment based on eight criteria, namely, job satisfaction, peers, infrastructure and environment, research resources, pay, management and policies, teaching and mentoring, tenure and promotion. A total of 111 institutions, 92 in the United States and 11 international, were evaluated.
