DNAStar to directly serve the European Market

Madison, Wisconsin, USA
July 18, 2011

DNASTAR® announced that it will begin to serve the entire European market through the use of direct sales, marketing and technical support personnel effective immediately. This approach will provide direct channels of communication between DNASTAR and life scientists in the European market.

For the past 15 years, DNASTAR has worked cooperatively with GATC Biotech to meet the needs of European molecular biologists, particularly those in Germany, Switzerland, France and Austria, who have had significant direct contact with GATC Biotech on behalf of DNASTAR in recent years. GATC Biotech has helped make DNASTAR Lasergene software the leading sequence analysis software solution globally.

Tom Schwei, Vice President and General Manager of DNASTAR, stated, “We are very grateful to GATC Biotech for all they have done for many years to help meet the needs of thousands of European molecular biologists and geneticists on our behalf. Now we are proceeding to the next phase of our relationship. We are continuing to work closely with GATC Biotech to provide DNASTAR software solutions to their sequencing services customers. We also plan to continue to work collaboratively with GATC Biotech on future projects.

“The primary benefit of this change is that DNASTAR customers will have easier, more direct access to DNASTAR sales and support personnel, life scientists and software developers. This change will allow the growing European sequencing market to have a strong voice in future DNASTAR product and services offerings. We will be spending more time interacting directly with European customers, beginning with the Miptec conference in Basel in September, where DNASTAR will be exhibiting and giving a talk.”

In each of the past 26 years, DNASTAR software has been cited in peer reviewed publications more often than any other commercial sequence assembly or analysis software. This strong record shows the confidence that life scientists have in DNASTAR to develop and deliver useful, scientifically strong software to meet their experimental needs and solve their DNA, RNA and protein sequence and structure problems.

DNASTAR, Inc., Madison, Wisconsin, USA is a pioneer in the development and sale of desktop software used to increase life scientists’ productivity. DNASTAR’s comprehensive software suite, Lasergene, supports molecular biologists and geneticists in meeting virtually all of their DNA, RNA and protein sequence needs, including Sanger and next-generation sequence assembly and analysis, with easy to use, affordable desktop computer software. Lasergene 9, released in April, 2011, supports scientists’ ability to assemble a whole human genome on a desktop computer in less than a day and it introduced Protean 3D, an integrated protein sequence and structure application that is the foundation of DNASTAR’s growing protein software platform. Fully functional free trials are readily available from DNASTAR’s website.
