Syngenta announces PhoenixT, a new seed brand available to U.S. growers for 2012 planting

Minnetonka, Minnesota, USA
June 17, 2011

  • New Phoenix brand expands grower access to Syngenta’s leading germplasm and innovative Agrisure traits
  • Phoenix brand corn hybrids available for 2012 planting through Beck’s Superior Hybrids, Inc.

Syngenta, one of the world’s leading agricultural seed providers, announced today the launch of PhoenixTM, a new seed brand that expands grower access to leading Syngenta germplasm and innovative Agrisure traits. The Phoenix brand offers growers the opportunity to purchase hybrids containing diverse genetics and leading trait technology, like Agrisure® 3000GT and Agrisure VipteraTM 3111 trait stacks, from local sales representatives with which they have long-standing relationships. Phoenix corn hybrids will be available regionally beginning with the 2012 planting season and will be distributed by Beck’s Superior Hybrids, Inc. (Beck’s).

“Syngenta is committed to supporting independent seed companies, recognizing that growers appreciate the option of a local choice in their seed suppliers. The Phoenix brand allows us to increase access to Syngenta corn germplasm and traits, particularly in the Eastern Corn Belt, with our Beck’s distribution agreement,” said David Morgan, Syngenta region director of North America and president of Syngenta Seeds, Inc. “The Beck’s team has an outstanding reputation for customer service and we are pleased to be working with Beck’s to bring our germplasm and traits to their customers.”

Beck’s has long supported innovative technology for their growers. In 2010, working with Syngenta, Beck’s began production of the Agrisure Viptera 3111 trait stack, which provides breakthrough control of the broadest spectrum of insects in industry history.
“Our distribution agreement with Syngenta means that our customers now have an expanded line of top-performing options when choosing corn genetics and traits,” said Sonny Beck, Beck’s Superior Hybrids, Inc. President. “Beck’s customers increasingly ask for corn hybrids containing Syngenta genetics and traits, specifically the new Agrisure Viptera trait. Now farmers have another reason to look to Beck’s for the product diversity they need for their entire operation.”
