Interview of Arnaud Tachon and Ludovic Cousin, new President and CEO of MAS Seeds

France
25 November 2025

Regenerative Agriculture is the agriculture of tomorrow. MAS Seeds is fully committed to supporting farmers in making this transition a success.

Arnaud Tachon and Ludovic Cousin, respectively the new President and Chief Executive Officer of MAS Seeds, outline the roadmap of the company.

Arnaud, what can you tell us about your appointment as President of MAS Seeds ?

Arnaud Tachon : Strengthening the connection between the Seeds division and the field Crop division of the cooperative is strategic for Maïsadour. Last year, when the seed corn production plan was reduced, we saw how essential it was for these divisions to work in cohesion to meet member farmers’ expectations. That is why I now hold this dual role in Seeds and Crop Production. Our actions need to be better structured in the interest of the Cooperative and its members.

And you, Ludovic ?

Ludovic Cousin : The connection I maintain with my family farm makes it easier for me to understand farmers’ challenges and expectations. In addition, my more than 20-year career at MAS Seeds gives me in-depth knowledge of the various business areas and its international presence, enabling me to better support decision-making.

Arnaud Tachon : The seed industry is undergoing major restructuring. When Ludovic was introduced to the seed producers’ group, his knowledge of the company and its challenges was very well received.

What does MAS Seeds’ purpose mean to you: “Act Together for a Changing Agriculture”?

Arnaud Tachon : We don’t want to change agriculture, but to change to a different kind of agriculture. We need to move from traditional farming to regenerative agriculture, through technical and agronomic progress, genetics, and decision-support tools…

Ludovic Cousin : Farmers face daily challenges: climate change, geopolitical instability, regulatory pressure, societal demands… Our goal is to support them in meeting these challenges while ensuring they maintain economic profitability. When we launched this purpose two years ago, it was an ambition. Today, we already have concrete solutions, such as our new corn and sunflower varieties, as well as our ranges of cover crops and forage mixtures.

What is the role of seeds in the agroecological transition?

Ludovic Cousin : It’s the starting point. Variety selection makes it possible to work on different criteria: resistance to water stress, disease tolerance, fertilization efficiency… It is therefore a key element of this transition, even before changes in practices through agronomic advice or decision-support tools.

Arnaud Tachon : To achieve this, MAS Seeds plays a supporting and training role for farmers, providing them with very practical solutions. Our aim is not to undergo change but to anticipate it.

What key achievements did MAS Seeds accomplish in 2024–2025?

Ludovic Cousin : Our success lies in innovation, with very practical solutions across our grain and silage maize ranges, the launch of our new oleic sunflower range resistant to broomrape, our cover crop ranges, and decision-support tools.

we can also commend our teams in Eastern Europe for their resilience in these challenging conditions, the Research & Development work carried out in Mexico, as well as our teams in Ivory Coast who are successfully laying the first foundations for the development of MASTROP (tropical maize hybrids).

Finally, we can highlight the successful results of our first two years of pilot farms in Regenerative Agriculture. This collaboration between 13 seed producers and our agro teams illustrates MAS Seeds’ DNA: a strong connection to the field. It should enable us to quickly bring all seed producers on board in evolving and enhancing their practices in regenerative agriculture.

Arnaud Tachon : MAS Seeds demonstrates a real ability to adapt compared to its competitors.

What is your roadmap?

Arnaud Tachon : In the short term, MAS Seeds will continue its investments, research efforts, and the structuring of its commercial offering. Each project must deliver profitability and performance for farmers and for the Cooperative, in order to better enhance the value of their farms.

Ludovic Cousin : And precisely, we are working on this profitability through three key areas. First, restructuring our corn and sunflower portfolio to increase volumes. Second, continuing our CSR transformation and commitment to regenerative agriculture. Finally, better promoting the expertise we are proud of.

A final word?

Arnaud Tachon : Regenerative agriculture is the agriculture of tomorrow. MAS Seeds is fully committed to supporting farmers in making this transition a success.

Ludovic Cousin : MAS Seeds has a clear roadmap and is already reaping the benefits. We are on the right track and must continue our transformation to become a profitable and sustainable company.
