Australia
December 3, 2024

Nufarm Limited today announced that Paul Townsend has decided to step down from his executive role of Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Mr Townsend will be succeeded as CFO by Brendan Ryan effective 13 January 2025.

Transition of Paul Townsend

During his time at Nufarm Mr Townsend led important changes to improve the resilience of Nufarm’s funding structure and financial capability. After stepping down from the CFO role in January, he will continue as a strategic advisor to Nufarm, focusing on supporting growth initiatives including Nufarm’s Seed Technologies platforms.

Commenting on the decision, Nufarm Managing Director and CEO Greg Hunt said, “Paul has made the decision to retire from his full-time executive position to enable him to further pursue and maintain a balance between his personal and other professional interests. Pleasingly, this will include continuing with Nufarm on a part-time basis in a strategic advisory role reporting to me. I thank Paul for his valuable contribution during his four years at Nufarm. Paul will work closely with Brendan to ensure a smooth and efficient transition”.

Appointment of Brendan Ryan

Mr Ryan brings a depth of experience and capability. Brendan comes to Nufarm after more than two decades in senior leadership positions at Fonterra Cooperative Group, most recently in Commercial Director (Divisional CFO) roles for the Chief Operating Office and its B2B global ingredients division based in New Zealand. Before joining Fonterra, Mr Ryan held roles at Bonlac Foods in Melbourne and Pfizer and BDO in Ireland. Brendan holds a Bachelor of Business from the University of Limerick, Ireland and is a Fellow, Chartered Accountants of Ireland. Brendan will be based at Nufarm’s Head Office in Laverton and will join Nufarm’s leadership team.

Nufarm Managing Director and CEO Greg Hunt said ‘we are very pleased to appoint Brendan to the role of CFO at Nufarm. Brendan has a demonstrated track record of success as a senior finance and commercial leader in the global agribusiness sector. His skill and experience will be important as we continue to evolve and grow our business.’
