New Zealand - Risk management proposal: measures to manage chestnut blight fungus (Cryphonectria parasitica) in seeds imported for sowing

The New Zealand Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry (MAF) has reviewed the import and quarantine requirements for tree seeds for sowing which may be infected with chestnut blight [Cryphonectria parasitica], and a number of changes to the import health standard are proposed.
You are invited to review the basis for these proposed changes in the attached Risk Management Proposal (RMP) and submit comments to MAF during the consultation period from 6 April – 6 May 2011.
Submissions should be sent to the address below. Depending on the results of consultation, it is anticipated that the new requirements will be in place by 31 May 2011.
