Meet our Panelists
Ernest is Director, Seed Regulatory and Testing Division, Science and Technology Program, AMS, USDA, where he oversees the administration of a Federal program aimed at facilitating trade in domestic and international markets. He is ISTA's current Vice President, and in this capacity, he is deeply committed to advancing the Association's mission of ensuring the unhampered production and trade of high-quality seeds from each of ISTA's 83 member countries/distinct economies.
Grethe is honorary life member of ISTA. She was member of the Executive Committee (1995-2017), and has been Chair of the Equipment and Moisture committees, and member of Germination committee. Holding an MSc degree from the University of Copenhagen (1976), she undertook post-graduate studies at the University of Champaign-Urbana, USA (1976-77). As an employee of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), she worked as Seed Quality Expert in Swaziland (1978-80) and as Head of the Mozambican National Seed Service (1980-88). She returned to the Danish State Seed Station in 1988, and after various responsibilities became Head of the Department of Seed Certification and Seed Testing in 1993 in the Danish Ministry of Agriculture Plant Directorate. During a three-year leave of absence (2000-2003), she was the Danida Seed Advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) in Vietnam. In addition, Grethe has done numerous consultancies in a large number of African and Asian countries and participated in all ISTA Congresses from 1983-2017.
Csaba is the Head of Section, OECD Codes and Schemes. In this capacity he is leading the OECD’s work on international standardisation and certification of agricultural products including agricultural and vegetable seeds, forest reproductive material, tractors and fruits and vegetables. Csaba has an MSc in Horticulture with specialisation in Biotechology as well as an MSc in Geo-Information Systems (GIS). He has more than 20 years of experiences in standardisation and certification of agricultural products. Before joining the OECD in 2006 he worked for the National Food Chain Safety Office of Hungary as inspector and coordinator of international relations. As Hungarian representative, he was the Chair of the Specialised Session on Standardisation of Dry and Dried Produce and Vice-Chair of the Working Party 7 on Agricultural Quality Standards of The United Nation Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) in 2005 and 2006.
