Warmenhuizen, The Netherlands

Emiliano Pointed Headed Cabbage

In the dynamically growing market of pointed headed cabbage cultivation, Bejo's variety Emiliano (Bejo 3518) is known for its robustness and high productivity. This variety has been specially developed to meet the needs of professional cabbage growers, both in terms of yield and quality.

Emiliano stands out for its excellent resistance to common diseases, including fusarium, making it a reliable choice for growers. With a growth period of 90 to 100 days after planting, Emiliano offers an efficient cycle. The variety is not only suitable for the fresh market, but also for the industrial market, where consistency and quality are key.

This thick-leaved pointed headed cabbage has unique storage qualities. After CA (controlled atmosphere) storage, Emiliano shows high-quality pointed headed cabbage even until mid-March without a storage tip. Emiliano is insensitive to cracking. With a higher number of growing days compared to other varieties, it can easily absorb growth bumps without growing out of size. The optimum harvest weight for the right proportions is 1.2 kg. The variety is healthy in the field and strong against thrips. In addition, the cabbage has a nice closed head and remains nicely fresh green in colour, even after storage.

This variety is not only productive and healthy, but also has a firm internal structure and good cutability, which makes it also suitable for the industry.
