With a dedicated editor  and the online nature of the Pesticide Manual and the Compendium of Common Pesticide Names  both products will keep you abreast of all the essential data on new and existing pesticides. Below are the latest updates made in February.

New Pesticides added to the Pesticide Manual and Compendium of Pesticide Common Names

metproxybicyclone – A new herbicide from Syngenta AG. The mechanism of action of metproxybicyclone has not been reported. However, it should be noted that this material is not a triketone.

sulfiflumin – A new acaricide and insecticide from Bayer CropScience. Again, the mechanism of action of sulfiflumin has not been reported but the materials is structurally similar to that of flupentiofenox.

bisulflufen – A new acaricide from Jiangsu Yangnong Chemical Co., Ltd. The material is structurally similar to that of flupentiofenox and sulfiflumin (see above).

pioxaniliprole – A new insecticide from PI Industries Ltd. The mechanism of action of pioxaniliprole has not been reported but the diamide structure would suggest that it is a ryanodine receptor modulator, similar to other diamide insecticides, such as cyantraniliprole, chlorantraniliprole, etc.

ACC (1-aminocyclopropanecarboxylic acid) – A naturally occurring amino acid and the precursor to the plant hormone ethylene. The plant growth regulating properties of ACC, due to its conversion in situ to ethylene, have long been known. Registered in the USA in 2023 by Valent BioSciences Corp.

ipflufenoquin – Physical chemical, toxicological, ecotoxicological and other data have recently been added to The Pesticide Manual for Ipflufenoquin, a new pesticide under evaluation by The Australian Pesticides and Veterinary Medicines Authority (APVMA) and the USA Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for registration as a fungicide. Ipflufenoquin, a phenylpropanol with a novel mode of action, is under development by Nippon-Soda Co. Ltd; proposed formulated product names include Migiwa and Kinoprol.

pyraquinate – Additional data have been added for this benzoylpyrazole herbicide from Ishihara Sangyo Kaisha Ltd.
