Virus Yellows Disease Returns to Europe, Threatening Sugar Production: DLF Beet Seed Introduces Breakthrough Solution for Farmers
 

The virus yellows disease can seriously reduce sugar beet yields. Following the phase-out of plant protection products for beet seed in recent years, we are once again seeing the disease bounce back in various countries in Europe, seriously threatening sugar production.

In recent years, DLF Beet Seed has intensified resistance breeding activities that target virus yellows – with very promising results. The first variety with improved resistance, Sonic, will be launched on the market in 2023 under the VYtech® brand.

In 2024, DLF Beet Seed is planning to launch a wider range of VYtech® varieties with characteristics adapted to the growing conditions in the various markets.
