Seed Association of Thailand holds its 17th National Conference

The 17th National Seed Conference was held 23-24 May 2023 at the Vajiranusorn Building of Kasetsart University’s Bang Khen campus in Bangkok. The conference was organized by by The Seed Association of Thailand (SAT)  in cooperation with a mutlitude of both public and private sector seed and agricultural organizations -- including Asia Pacific Seed Alliance (APSA), Thai Seed Trade Association (THASTA), Faculty of Agriculture, Kasetsart University, Plant Breeding and Multiplication Association of Thailand, Agricultural Science Society of Thailand (ASST),; and Thailand's Department of Agricultural Extension,  Royal Forest Department, Rice Department.

Presiding of the preliminary session were SAT President Dr. Juangjun Duangpatra, and the former Miniister of Thailand's Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives.

The conference was attended by about 200 delegates, including representatives from 

  • Asia and Pacific Seed Alliance (APSA)
  • Royal Forest Department
  • Rice Department
  • The Agricultural Science Society of Thailand (ASST)
  • The Seed Association of Thailand
  • Former minister of MOAC
  • Faculty of Agriculture, KU
  • Department of Agricultural Extension
  • Thai Seed Trade Association (THASTA)
  • Plant Breeding and Multiplication Association of Thailand 

200 participants from the public sector, universities, associations, and seed companies. The itinerary included various lectures and discussions, as well as presentations on research and posters, with 14 exhibitions 14 booths.

The keynote and preliminary session facilitated timely panel and dialogue on the impact of dust and environmental pollution on agriculture, which was complemented by several more sessions covering the latest advances, trends and opportunities in seedling production, seed technology, forestry and paddy seeds. Supporting and reinforcing national seed sector development through engagement and enhancement with national and local seed production, trade, R&D and production organizations is central to APSA’s mandate and strategy as a regional seed association.
