From 13 to 17 June and from 20 to 24 June Naktuinbouw will receive two African OAPI delegations. The purpose of these two visits is to exchange knowledge about Plant Breeders' Rights and technical variety testing (DUS).
The European Commission supports a major project (PPOV), among others for the development and strengthening of the Plant Breeders' |Rights system in West Africa. The visits to Naktuinbouw are part of the 'TradeCom II – ACP Trade Capacity Building Programme' (ACP = The African Caribbean and Pacific group of states) and are a follow-up to the project that started in 2019: Greater awareness of Plant Breeders' Rights in African countries: OAPI
Cooperation
A large part of the western (French-speaking) countries of Africa became UPOV members several years ago. Their regional office for Plant Breeders' Rights is OAPI (Organisation Africaine de la Propriété Intellectuelle in Yaoundé, Cameroon). An organization comparable to the CPVO within Europe. The organisations that cooperate and provide technical support to OAPI are: the International Union for the Protection of New Varieties of Plants (UPOV), the Community Plant Variety Office (CPVO), the French Seeds and Plants Intergovernmental Group (GNIS), GEVES and Naktuinbouw.
Bezoeken OAPI om kennis kwekersrecht te vergroten
Van 13 t/m 17 juni en van 20 t/m 24 juni ontvangt Naktuinbouw twee Afrikaanse OAPI-delegaties. Het doel van deze twee bezoeken is het uitwisselen van kennis over het kwekersrecht en het technisch DUS-onderzoek.
De Europese Commissie ondersteunt een groot project (PPOV), onder andere voor de ontwikkeling en de versterking van het kwekersrechtsysteem in West-Afrika.
De bezoeken aan Naktuinbouw zijn in het kader van 'TradeCom II – ACP Trade Capacity Building Programme' (ACP = The African Caribbean and Pacific group of states) en zijn een vervolg op het project dat in 2019 startte: Meer bekendheid kwekersrechtsysteem in Afrikaanse landen: OAPI
Samenwerking
Een groot deel van de westerse (Franstalige) landen van Afrika werd al een aantal jaar geleden UPOV-lid. Hun regionaal bureau voor het kwekersrecht is OAPI (Organisation Africaine de la Propriété Intellectuelle in Yaoundé, Kameroen). Een organisatie vergelijkbaar met het CPVO binnen Europa. De samenwerkende organisaties die OAPI technisch ondersteunen zijn: de Unie voor de bescherming van plantenrassen (UPOV), het Communautair Bureau voor plantenrassen (CPVO), de Franse Seeds and Plants Intergovernmental Group (GNIS), GEVES en Naktuinbouw.
