Accelerating soil revitalisation with carbon revenues

France
March 2022

Since January, Gaïago has been offering farmers a unique carbon programme that is simple and easy to implement.

It is based on the first prebiotic of soils and is based on the measurement of stored carbon, via soil samples.

Farmers are using the NUTRIGEOⓇ L prebiotic technology which improves soil structure and fertility in less than 6 months and offers many agronomic benefits, including ease of tillage or improved crop yields and quality.

The application of NUTRIGEOⓇ L, combined with regenerative agricultural practices improves soil porosity, promotes the availability of nutrients to the plant and enhances the evolution of crop residues into humus to ensure a higher organic carbon content in the soil.

Strict specifications on the choice of plots and operating methods make it possible, on average, to sequester an additional 3 tonnes of CO2eq per hectare per year, according to measurements taken in the field over the last 4 years. This prebiotic significantly accelerates the benefits of Regenerative Agriculture.

This offer is compatible with all types of crops - field crops, vines, arboriculture, market gardening, etc. - and will enable the farmer to receive additional income from the carbon credits generated over a period of 5 years. This income is in addition to all the agronomic benefits of the product.

The programme has already attracted more than 200 farmers from around 20 of our partner distributors.
