Bayer to offer soybeans containing the Enlist E3 trait in near future - Distribution agreement with M.S. Technologies, L.L.C. adds additional choice to product mix

St. Louis, Missouri, USA
February 22, 2022

Bayer announced today a distribution agreement with M.S. Technologies, L.L.C. for soybeans containing the Enlist E3™ trait. The objective of the agreement is to provide Bayer customers with more choice and additional tools for integrated weed management. Bayer has long been an advocate for the co-existence of multiple sites of action in crop systems to help farmer customers be successful and this agreement adds another effective trait system for weed control.

“There are no one-size-fits all solutions to herbicide and weed management, and we want to provide our customers with more choices to manage tough to control weeds, while maintaining the relationship with their trusted advisors, seed professionals and Bayer representatives,” says Wes Hays, Bayer U.S. soybean portfolio lead. “This agreement will provide farmers choice with a complementary offering alongside the industry leading products and solutions Bayer has to offer.”

Bayer will distribute soybean seed with Enlist E3 technology beginning in the 2023 crop season in brands that will be launched later this year.  Bayer and M.S. Technologies are working together to help growers manage the growing challenge of herbicide-resistant weeds.

Soybeans with the Enlist E3 trait will provide tolerance to glufosinate, new 2,4-D choline, and glyphosate herbicides. With the ability to use these three herbicides, soybean growers can employ multiple sites of action against their most troublesome weeds.

“This partnership is great news for U.S. soybean growers,” notes Joseph Merschman, president of M.S. Technologies. “This announcement clears the way for even more soybean growers to experience the high-yielding elite genetics and exceptional weed control offered by the Enlist E3 soybean system.”

Bayer remains committed to bringing farmers innovation with its more than $2 billion annual investment in R&D to advance a more sustainable future for agriculture. With the most robust trait technology pipeline in the industry, Bayer is investing heavily in creating new technologies for farmers to use, including new trait offerings with five and six modes of action for herbicide tolerance and additional innovations to benefit soybean farmers in the years ahead. On the horizon later this decade, the Bayer pipeline intends to launch HT4 soybeans which, when approved, will be the industry’s first five-tolerance soybean trait stack, adding 2,4-D and HPPD tolerance to XtendFlex® soybeans.
