Dutch breeding company Evanthia has made it an important focus point: by laying the foundation together with growers and by actively connecting with various links in the floriculture chain, the company wants to accomplish a good market position for all parties involved. This season it has led to intensive cooperation with growers of Celosia cristata, a crop in which Evanthia is market leader, and the Westland trading company W.K. Heyl.
This summer, W.K. Heyl, the specialist for the German florist, was the first to present the Celosia Jack series. This new series, in 2021 exclusively grown by Aris de Koning, is characterised by an elegant cock’s comb and many colourful flowers along the stem. A new appearance, which presents the popular cut flower as a voluminous bouquet booster. To ensure good coordination and knowledge sharing around this new introduction, the Jack series was supplied in phases and exclusively via Heyl.
In October, Celosia Reprise of grower Feiko Sonneveld will be in the spotlight at W.K. Heyl. Where the supply of Celosia usually decreases around mid October, the production of Celosia Reprise at Sonneveld continues until December. Reprise is a relatively new series, developed for the exclusive segment. From the Evanthia breeding program, new colours will be added to the series in the near future. Thanks to the genetically compact crop structure with considerably smaller leaves and a refined plant density in the late season, the supply season can be extended. This assures the market of wide availability and high quality stems until the end the autumn. Heyl emphasizes Celosia’s ‘late’ availability in their webshop. The bright colours and special flower shape and texture of Celosia, truly come into their own in Heyl’s new theme for seasonal inspiration: ‘Midnight Colors‘.

Veredelingsbedrijf Evanthia heeft het tot een belangrijk focuspunt gemaakt: door samen met telers een goede basis te leggen en door actief aansluiting te zoeken bij diverse schakels in de sierteeltketen, wil het bedrijf voor alle betrokkenen een goede marktpositie realiseren. Dit seizoen zorgt het onder meer voor een intensieve samenwerking met telers van Celosia cristata, waarin Evanthia marktleider is, en bloemenhandel W.K. Heyl - gevestigd op het veilingterrein van Honselersdijk.
Deze zomer presenteerde W.K. Heyl, specialist in het beleveren van Duitse vakbloemisten, als eerste de Celosia Jack serie. Deze nieuwe serie werd voor 2021 exclusief geteeld door Aris de Koning en gekenmerkt door een sierlijke hanekam en vele kleurrijke bloemetjes langs de steel. Een nieuwe verschijningsvorm, waarmee de geliefde snijbloem als volumineuze boeket booster gepresenteerd werd. Om afstemming en kennisdeling rondom deze nieuwe introductie goed te kunnen organiseren, werd de Jack serie gefaseerd en exclusief aangevoerd via Heyl.
In oktober staat Celosia Reprise van kweker Feiko Sonneveld in de spotlight bij W.K. Heyl. Daar waar de toelevering van Celosia doorgaans geleidelijk afneemt rond half oktober, gaat de productie van Celosia Reprise bij Sonneveld nog door tot in december. Reprise is een relatief nieuwe serie, ontwikkeld voor het exclusieve segment. Vanuit de veredeling van Evanthia wordt de serie op korte termijn uitgebreid met nieuwe kleuren. Dankzij de genetisch compacte gewasstructuur met aanzienlijk kleinere bladeren én een uitgekiende plantdichtheid in het naseizoen, kan het leveren aan de handel en bloemist verlengd worden. Hiermee is de markt verzekerd van een ruime beschikbaarheid en een hoge kwaliteit stelen tot diep in de herfst. Heyl legt nadruk op de ‘late’ beschikbaarheid van Celosia in de webshop. In ‘Midnight Colors’, het nieuwe thema voor seizoensinspiratie bij W.K. Heyl, komen de bonte herfstkleuren en bijzondere bloemvorm en -textuur van Celosia geheel tot hun recht.
