Since 1946, Scott Seed Company has dedicated their business to providing seed to local and worldwide companies. This year marks our 75th anniversary, and we are immensely proud of what we have accomplished- lifelong relationships and business partnerships, and growth beyond what we could ever imagine.
Scott Seed Company was founded in Deaf Smith County by our grandparents, Ira and Leona Scott, on their farm in West Hereford, Texas. In 1957, the company was relocated to its present location, also in Hereford. In 1972, Ira sold the company to his son-in-law, Gary “Pops” Kriegshauser. Gary loved the seed business, but his true passion was managing his cattle and ranching. After owning the seed company for 25 years, Gary decided to sell Scott Seed Company to his two sons- Chad and Coby Kriegshauser. Each generation has owned the company for 25 years now, and with our own kids employed, we’re proud to say that we have been in business through four generations. Ira Scott’s vision of a small seed company has since grown into a global operation that we are honored to be a part of.
The success of Scott Seed Company throughout the years owes much to the strong foundation and hard work that still holds strong 75 years later. What our grandparents started has given us a road to many opportunities. Our reputation precedes us, and we still believe that if you love what you do for a living, you’ll never work a day in your life. We love this company, and we consider those who work for us as family. We truly have the best workforce in the industry, and we wouldn’t be here without the amazing employees giving it their best each day.
Scott Seed Company currently has nurseries in Costa Rica, and here in Texas. We have developed many new and innovative forage and sorghum varieties that we ship worldwide. Our breeding program is second to none, and as we continue to develop and cultivate our program, our future is only looking brighter. Along with sorghum, we also offer a wide variety of other products like wheat, triticale, and oats. As we like to say, if cattle eat it, we can provide the seed. With four locations in the Texas Panhandle, we are well equipped to take care of our small business customers' needs and handle large shipments globally in a moment’s notice.
Thank you to our family, friends, employees, farmers, and customers for making Scott Seed what it is today. We are excited for what the future holds and look forward producing seed for years to come.
