Would you like to be at the cutting edge of independent crop trials and part of a team recommending barley and oat varieties for the UK? If the answer is 'yes', then you may be interested to find out about a unique opportunity for you.

Discover how the RL trials are run (protocols)

As part of the AHDB Recommended Lists (RL), Crop Committees help the main RL Project Board shape the trial process and, ultimately, decide which varieties to recommend.

There is a unique opportunity for a grower to join the RL Barley and Oats Crop Committee. Although growers in Scotland or northern England are preferred, any grower interested in these cereal crops is encouraged to apply.

What does it involve?

Committee members meet three times a year – generally, in May/June, August/September and November – to agree agronomic and quality definitions for varietal recommendation, select candidate varieties for trial and propose new varieties to add to the RL.

Candidates should be enthusiastic and committed. Successful candidates will receive support and reasonable allowances (i.e. travel and subsistence) during their three-year term.

Applications, including a covering letter and CV, should be sent to: lindsey.daniel@ahdb.org.uk

The application deadline is 26 July 2021.

The anticipated interview dates are 2 or 3 August, via Microsoft Teams.

The RL Crop Committee Handbook provides further information on the role of the crop committees.
