Becker Underwood has introduced Polymer 1172–O, an OMRI-certified, water-soluble seed polymer designed to bind organic seed treatments onto seed and control dust-off.
“Polymer 1172–O provides seed conditioners a convenient way to bind various natural biological performance enhancers and seed protectants onto seed in organic production systems,” says Stephanie Zumbach, Becker Underwood product manager for seed enhancements. “Reducing the loss of these treatments as the seed is handled and planted can help improve the performance of the organically produced crop. It also minimizes dust exposure for seed-plant workers and growers when they handle the seed.”
The new seed-enhancement polymer is a water-soluble powder. It mixes easily with water and other compatible seed-enhancement products to form a liquid slurry that can applied by standard seed-treating equipment. Polymer 1172–O effectively suppresses dust-off during seed conditioning, treatment, planting and re-bagging of seed.
Polymer 1172–O is certified by the Organic Materials Review Institute (OMRI) for use in organic seed production. OMRI provides organic certifiers, growers, manufacturers and suppliers an independent review of products intended for use in certified organic production, handling and processing to ensure organic integrity.
The new polymer is one of many products in a unique family of seed-enhancement polymers and colorants produced by Becker Underwood to improve seed plantability, flowability and appearance as well as control dust.
