Cornell University's College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and Sathguru Management Consultants announce Seed Industry Program 2011

The seed industry has been shaped by rapid growth, widespread mergers, acquisitions, and shifting roles of public and private R&D. Small business ventures have given way to larger enterprises that integrate plant breeding, research, production, and marketing functions. The present challenge is to sustain this growth, address emerging needs of markets and leverage access to innovations through technology licensing and product delivery rights.

In this backdrop, the Center for Executive Education (CEE) at Sathguru Management Consultants is pleased to announce the Seed Industry Program to be held from 17–21 January 2011, at Taj Deccan, Hyderabad, India. The program will be delivered by a distinguished faculty from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS), Cornell University, Ithaca, NY, USA and renowned industry experts from Sathguru Management Consultants under the auspices of the Cornell-in-India & Sathguru initiative.

The primary focus of the program is to enhance the participants’ ability to develop strategic solutions to augment business through a deeper understanding of research management, technology access through licensing, regulatory compliance, market access factors and business restructuring.

Participants representing government bodies, academic and research institutions, and seed companies from India and abroad will be addressed by the core faculty of internationally renowned scientists and academics from Cornell University, senior consultants from Sathguru and industry leaders. The topics covered will include, strategic linkages influencing seed industry growth; strategies for collaborative partnerships to help develop high yielding new varieties and hybrids; exposure to genetic resource access and breeding strategies in public and private sectors; gains from intellectual property protection, PVP and technology access strategies; exposure to gains from biotechnology for the seed sector; awareness of emerging regulatory regime and opportunities; innovative products, market strategies and delivery mechanisms; a case study on GE crop development, technology transfer and delivery.

This program has been built on the strong foundations of an immensely successful partnership between CALS and Sathguru Management Consultants, Hyderabad that has delivered high quality programs that have helped build capacity in agriculture infrastructure through various high profile initiatives.

CEE’s executive development programs have earned considerable success due to the support extended by participants from corporate entities as well as government bodies. The participants are provided with a dynamic learning environment wherein the trends, perspectives and regulations of various industrial sectors are brought into the limelight.
