Mid-november deadline set for organic research and education proposals

The Organic Farming Research Foundation announces the availability of funding to support organic research and education/outreach projects in 2011. Thanks to a partnership with the Clif Bar Family Foundation, special funding is available for organic seed quality and crop breeding projects. Funding for projects in other topic areas is also available.
The next proposal deadline is Thursday, November 18, 2010.
“We’re fortunate to have both special funding from Clif Bar and general grant funds available,” said Grants Program Director Jane Sooby. “This allows our grantmaking to be responsive to emerging issues that are important to organic producers.”
Growers, researchers, and educators are encouraged to consider submitting proposals on any agricultural production, social, economic, or policy-related topic of concern to organic farmers and/or ranchers. Begin by reviewing the project proposal guidelines at Requests for Proposals. OFRF now accepts proposals submitted electronically.
Contact Grants Program Director Sooby to learn more at: email jane@ofrf.org, telephone 831-426-6606, ext. 107. Final reports highlighting practical findings from funded projects are posted at www.ofrf.org/funded/funded.html.
Celebrating its 20th year, the Organic Farming Research Foundation is sowing the seeds to transform agriculture by working for the continuous improvement and widespread adoption of organic farming systems. OFRF sponsors organic farming research and education projects, and disseminates the results to organic farmers and to growers interested in adopting organic production systems. The foundation also educates the public and policymakers about organic farming issues. The majority of OFRF’s board members are organic farmers.
