Illinois Crop Improvement Association licensed by Access Plant Technology to conduct official phytophthora root rot Rps8 (XPR) trait validation tests

ACCESS Plant Technology, Inc, Plymouth, Indiana and Illinois Crop Improvement Assn, Champaign, Illinois jointly announce that IL Crop has been licensed by ACCESS to conduct official Phytophthora Root Rot Rps8 (XPR®) trait validation tests. IL Crop has an exclusive independent third party license to conduct the Rps8 (XPR) trait tests for seed companies licensed by ACCESS to develop and / or market soybean varieties expressing the Rps8 (XPR) Phytophthora Root Rot trait. ACCESS has also authorized IL Crop to assist and support XPR Licensees who wish to set up their own internal XPR testing program.
John Gerard, ACCESS President, says that IL Crop has an outstanding history of providing the seed industry with excellent Phytophthora Root Rot testing expertise and this licensing arrangement provides XPR Licensees the opportunity to utilize IL Crop’s excellent XPR trait testing service.
The Rps8* gene provides broad based resistance to Phytophthora Root Rot. XPR®** is the commercial brand name for Rps8.
