AgReliant Genetics expands into new northwestern footprint

Westfield, Indiana, USA
May 13, 2019

Today, AgReliant Genetics, the third largest seed corn company in North America, announced its recent research and testing expansion into the northwestern U.S. Corn Belt states of Minnesota, Nebraska and South Dakota.

“Directing greater resources toward the northwestern Corn Belt, which is where we currently see opportunities in market and acreage growth, will support the expansion of our product portfolio and customer experiences now and in the future,” said Mark Herrmann, President & CEO, AgReliant Genetics. “This helps to ensure that AgReliant is well positioned for long-term innovation and success.”

This growth initiative includes the opening of a new AgReliant Genetics research station in Sioux Falls, SD and an expanded testing network focused on geographically-targeted germplasm evaluation and corn hybrid production.

“Over the past year, we have been heavily focused on ensuring our current research strategy, our organizational structure, and where we focus our research efforts and resources directly supports our vision of helping farmers grow,” said Peter Lynch, Ph.D., Vice President of Research, AgReliant Genetics. “Having a research presence in South Dakota allows us to be well positioned to breed and test our products in a part of the country that we see as a great fit for our germplasm and for our commercial brand strategies.”

“This western expansion coupled with our access to independent globally-positioned research facilities and germplasm through our parent companies — KWS and Groupe Limagrain — provides the ideal environment for developing proprietary early- to mid-maturity hybrids that work for our northwestern farmers,” said Mike Kerns, Director of Corn Inbred Line Breeding,
