“Once again Wembley has earned its high position in the 2018 AHDB Recommended List 4-year trials results, proving that the variety is living up to its reputation for consistency in gross output over seasons,” comments Theo Labuda, Managing Director of LS Plant Breeding Ltd (LSPB).
“Wembley is a restored hybrid giving good autumn vigour and spring vigour. Added to that it has good agronomic characteristics with high stem stiffness, high resistance to lodging, good resistance to light leaf spot and stem canker - and an early flowering time.?
“Crome is our clubroot resistant candidate variety, and it has also had an excellent year with high yield and the highest oil content in 2018 trials results.
“LSPB’s variety Mentor has long been established as the only clubroot resistant variety on the Recommended List. Now Crome looks set to give growers a further choice with the promise of a 7% increase in gross output over Mentor based on this year’s trials results,” adds Mr Labuda.
