Incotec introduces new sunflower seed encrusting - Technology that increases sunflower seed kernel weight

Wageningen, The Netherlands
June 16, 2016

Incotec, market leader in seed enhancement, has developed an encrustation technology that successfully increases the seed kernel weight of sunflower seeds without changing the shape: Suncrust Sunflower. This is relevant for seeds meeting all quality standards but failing to achieve export certification on one aspect: their weight.

Incotec’s Sales Manager Field Crops Europe, Willem Fijma, commented: “A huge amount of quality sunflower seeds just happen to be light-weight. This means they are discarded or used only for oil production. We aimed at producing a technology that would add value to those healthy seeds without slowing down the process or requiring new equipment. This technology does that by giving them the right weight to qualify for certification. We are pleased with the outcome. Suncrust gives excellent results and makes processing fast and flexible.”

Incotec is a leading international seed enhancement company founded in 1968 and, since December 2015, part of the Croda Group.
