Technology to dry and store more than just grain
USA

March is National Peanut Month, and what many may not realize or consider is the key role automated storage management technology can play in drying and curing peanuts. Peanuts are harvested at 35%-50% moisture content (MC) and must be cured to a target MC of 8%-10%, but this drying process poses challenges and risk of quality deductions. All too often, significant losses are experienced due to over-drying or splitting.
IntelliFarms has brought PeanutManager, a sister product of BinManager, to several of the nation's peanut farms to successfully dry and cure peanuts to desired moisture content before taking to market. PeanutManager's automated management technology brings big advantages to the drying process:
- In-storage moisture and temperature of the peanuts is constantly measured and analyzed in conjuction with ambient weather conditions in order to automatically tell the fans when to run and appropriately dry and cure the peanuts.
- The system delivers gradual dry-down of all levels in order to ensure uniformity and consistency of the peanuts instead of varying degrees of over-dry or over-wet nuts.
- Fans and heaters only run on an as-needed basis, so the cost of propane, natural gas or kerosene is minimized.
- PeanutManager can be configured to your truck/trailor/wagon storage operation.
The foundations of PeanutManager are also tailored and applied to others in the nut family, including pistachios and pecans. To learn more about PeanutManager or how the technology can be tailored to your nut operation, call 855.206.5612 or visit IntelliFarms.com.
