Publication: UK Cereals Pathogen Virulence Survey (UKCPVS) yellow rust diversification groups for wheat yellow rust
United Kingdom
June 9, 2014
Due to the current complex and diverse nature of the yellow rust race situation in the UK, it has not been possible to identify more than two diversification groups – those varieties that are resistant as adult plants to all of the pathotypes identified from the UK Cereals Pathogen Virulence Survey (UKCPVS) data, and those that are susceptible to one or more of them.
Within the latter group, some varieties still have relatively good adult plant resistance, indicated by their current ratings.
Where possible, variety selection should include some proportion of the resistant group to help minimise the overall yellow rust pressure on farm.
