East-West Seed recently participated in the 2018 Seed Fair organized by the Department of Agriculture (DOA) in Myanmar, led by the Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation (MOALI) Dr Aung Thu and the Director General of the DOA Dr Ye Tint Tun.
Myanmar Minister of Agriculture, Livestock and Irrigation (MOALI) Dr Aung Thu and the Department of Agriculture Director General Dr Ye Tint Tun were received by East-West Seed General Manager Kang Chengrui and Sales & Marketing Manager Thein Tun at the demo field.
An estimated 1,000 farmers from all over Myanmar attended the event, along with traders, collectors, and retailers. Students from Yezin University and State Agriculture Institute were also in attendance.
The event was held at the Pyinmana State Agricultural Institute, Nay Pyi Taw on Mar 5th - 9th. A total of 11 companies participated, and East-West Seed was one of only 5 companies invited to prepare a demo field.
East-West Seed took the opportunity to showcase its products to its customers. Among the new varieties shown on the field were the Indian type bitter gourd, a new luffa variety with virus resistance, new flat-round pumpkin, new oriental cucumber, and heart shaped bitter gourd. It also presented seed enhancement technologies like film coating.
East-West Seed prepared a demo field in Nay Pyi Taw showcasing its new varieties for Myanmar farmers.
Registered as a foreign company in Myanmar, East-West Seed is engaged in producing and distributing high quality vegetable seeds, as well as providing training to farmers through its Knowledge Transfer activities.
In 2017, the Knowledge Transfer activities of East-West Seed in Myanmar reached about 14,000 farmers and produced 532 demos in different parts of the country.

Seeds of improved vegetable varieties have been introduced by East-West Seed in Myanmar since 2009 and are well known by vegetable farmers across the country.
