DuPont Crop Protection reduces rotation interval for BOLT soybeans after Finesse Cereal & Fallow herbicide - Label change marks the shortest soybean-wheat rotational interval available in U.S. states where allowed

Wilmington, Delaware, USA
May 10, 2016

DuPont Crop Protection has announced a label change for DuPont™ Finesse® Cereal & Fallow herbicide that allows planting BOLT technology soybeans four months following application of DuPont™ Finesse® Cereal & Fallow herbicide at labeled rates where soil pH is 7.9 or lower. Consult product labels for states where the reduced interval has been allowed.

This label change marks the shortest interval available for double-crop and other wheat-soybean rotations on irrigated or non-irrigated land. The reduced rotation interval gives growers more weed-control options by leveraging additional herbicide modes of action. Research has shown improvement in soil health and crop yield as a result of strategic crop rotation.

With a single burndown application in early spring, Finesse® Cereal & Fallow herbicide helps manage henbit, mustards, wild buckwheat and other yield-limiting broadleaf weeds through the entire season.

“This reduced wheat-to-soybeans interval gives growers more options for controlling resistant broadleaf weeds and supporting maximum yield potential,” said James Hay, business director, North America, DuPont Crop Protection. “Even better, it lets them use a field-proven, trusted herbicide with innovative BOLT technology soybeans. It’s a powerful combination that will help growers achieve their production goals and continue to increase production to meet the expanding global demand for high-protein foods made from soy ingredients.”

Launched in 2015, BOLT technology is a native trait that gives selected soybean varieties enhanced tolerance to herbicides, providing more burndown weed-control options. In addition to Finesse® Cereal & Fallow, BOLT™ technology soybeans have increased tolerance to DuPont™ LeadOff® and Basis® Blend herbicides, giving growers other options for burndown in no-till situations.

This is the latest advancement from DuPont Crop Protection. The company has been recognized with 20 Agrow Awards over the last eight years, including the Best R&D Pipeline Award in 2013 and 2014.
