American Vanguard Corporation (NYSE:AVD) today announced that the Company’s wholly-owned subsidiary, AMVAC-Netherlands BV, has established a new Asia Pacific operating entity in Singapore. This new subsidiary, AMVAC Singapore Pte Ltd, will advance the Corporation’s strategic objective of international expansion in this important world region.
This subsidiary will be managed by Lawrence Yu, who is the newly appointed President of AMVAC’s Asia Pacific business. Throughout his 37 year professional career, Mr. Yu has held numerous positions involving technical/commercial development, sales/marketing initiatives, and regional managerial responsibilities. He has contributed to the success of many firms in the crop protection industry, including Uniroyal, Roussel Uclaf, Hoechst, AgrEvo, Bayer CropScience and Sumitomo Chemical.
His most recent assignment was as Regional Head for the Health and Crop Sciences Sector of Sumitomo Chemical in Singapore where he successfully pioneered business expansion in China, India, Japan and Southeast Asia. Prior to that, he was the President of Bayer CropScience in Japan. He has also been active in the industry trade association CropLife Asia, as well as the Committee Chairman for Anti-Counterfeits.
